Many of us old timers around Puerto Penasco, Rocky Point, have been cruising around Mexico for years. Working in Mexico allows us to enjoy the culture, people, and atmosphere for years, while still being close to our families in the US.

Finally now, we will be able to leave on our first Mexican cruise from Puerto Penasco, Rocky point! On Dec 7, 2019, we will be leaving beautiful Puerto Penasco for many ports in the Sea of Cortez, specifically in the nautical ladder of Mexico.
About 7 years ago, John and I went on a week long cruise inside the Sea of Cortez, leaving from LA. We visited Cabo San Lucas, Guaymas, Loreto, and Topolobampo. We absolutely loved this cruise, each port was relatively small and quaint, offering a realistic view of Mexican life. Onboard a Holland America ship, and unfortunately the cruise was only offered once or twice a year.
Now we are looking forward to sailing from Rocky Point, Puerto Penasco, a very easy drive from AZ and returning to the same place. We will be able to stay in our own condo before leaving and when we return. We will see the beauty of the Sea of Cortez with many friends from Penasco, who undoubtedly share our enthusiasm and love for all things Mexico!
We especially loved the stop at Guaymas, San Carlos, as it is similar to our own beautiful Puerto Penasco, but has many mountain vistas overlooking the Sea. It is also a relatively small town, with that welcoming small town feel. Fun and fascinating restaurants, beaches, and resorts abound.
Another favorite stop was in Topolobampo, the entry to the Copper Canyon. Since it is quite a distance, we took a bus from the port to the train. The train ride into the Copper Canyon was amazing, with fabulous bridges and gorges all around. I especially enjoyed the hand crafted local baskets made by the ladies.
